The Bangor YMCA Tri for the Y Sprint Triathlon & Duathlon

Tri for the Y Sprint Triathlon & Duathlon

Whether this is your 50th Sprint Triathlon or Sprint Duathlon, or your very first, the Bangor YMCA wants you to GIVE OUR TRI A TRY!

August 28th, 2016
The Bangor YMCA Wilderness Center at Camp Jordan
101 Camp Jordan Way, Ellsworth, ME 04605
Our Sprint Triathlon is Sanctioned by USAT

NEW THIS YEAR!

This is an “Old School” event! Before Tri-bikes existed, a triathlon was raced on road bikes or street bikes or hybrid bikes. So, leave your fancy Tri-bike at home!  And bring your spring-trainer beater-road bike or your hybrid-bike or your cyclocross bike or your mountain bike! This is NOT for nice bikes. The bike portion is on some paved roads but mostly compressed dirt, so leave your skinny tires at home! Come have fun at this throwback event!

Not only are we celebrating our 5th Anniversary at The Bangor YMCA Wilderness Center at Camp Jordan, giving our Sprint Triathlon an “Old School” nod to the days before Tri-Bikes existed, BUT we will will also be adding a SPRINT DUATHLON! Both our Sprint Triathlon and Sprint Duathlon will run simultaneously.

Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race

The Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race, held annually on the third weekend of April, is the largest paddling event in New England and one of the largest in the country.

Hosted by the Bangor Dept. of Parks & Recreation, the 16.5 mile race begins in the Town of Kenduskeag and ends near the confluence of the Penobscot River in downtown Bangor.

The Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race would not be possible without the dedication of numerous safety and support crews - most of whom are volunteers. They work hard to ensure a safe experience for race participants.
