THE GREAT BANGOR MARATHON & HALF returns for its second year, Sunday June 22, 2025!
This is a USATF sanctioned and certified course. If you are looking to qualify for the Boston Marathon or any other marathon, this is your race!
Course Information: 
The course will start at the corner of Main St and Dutton St, with a police escort the runners will head down Main St, take a right onto Railroad St, take a left onto Front St which turns into Broad St, take a right onto Washington St, take a left onto Exchange St, which turns into Harlow St, which turns into Valley Ave, runner will follow Valley Ave along the Kenduskeag Stream, take a left onto Kenduskeag Ave, a right onto Griffin Rd and a left onto Broadway, head out Broadway to the Half Turn around (shortly after the Pushaw Rd) or the Full Turn around just south of the Village of Kenduskeag. The runner will return on the same route with only one modification which is a right turn onto Kenduskeag Ave. There is a course profile below with more details. There is plenty of nearby parking and after the race, right near the finish line, will be health related vendors such as massage therapist, physical therapist to greet the runners. We will have photo opportunities and Geaghan’s, our beverage sponsor, will have a beverage garden open so the runners can share their experience with each other and family & friends.
Come to this 2nd year event to get your medal made by Ashworth Awards, the same company that makes medals for the Boston Marathon.

The Great Bangor Marathon featured a debut logo honoring the legacy of Kenya’s Kelvin Kiptum.Kiptum set the marathon world record in Chicago in 2023 before tragically passing away in a car accident in his home country in February. Race organizers say he’s a great example for anyone around the sport.

“Kelvin Kiptum had a great attitude towards training and a love for the sport of marathoning. He had outstanding performance, outstanding training. He was just a trailblazer in the sport of marathoning. This is a good year to have this great logo for the Bangor Marathon,” said David McIntyre, Race Director.
