Deer Farm CX – Down For Gravel

Set in the foothills of the White Mountains in West Newfield, Maine, Deer Farm Cyclocross and Down For Gravel are celebrations of fall cycling in the Northeast. Come to Deer Farm to race, ride, and relax with the community in a spectacular setting.

There is something special about West Newfield, ME.

As the leaves begin to turn each fall, the landscape beckons you outside. Maybe it’s the crisp fall air. Maybe it’s the colors on the trees and the angle of the light. Whatever it is, it’s best enjoyed by riding hard and by getting your bike dirty.

Deer Farm CX started as a celebration of racing and community in the White Mountains, and it continues as a key event for athletes from New England and beyond. Each year, the course evolves to incorporate fun features that will keep you on your toes around every corner – berms, jumps, and rollers are just the beginning of what this unique course on an active deer farm has in store. Down For Gravel serves up local flavor for those riders who want to keep rolling the next day. With 40-, 60-, and 90-mile route options, DFG offers multiple ways to explore the magic of the region’s quiet back roads and expansive White Mountain views. Save the date 9/7/25. Bicycle Coalition of Maine 2025 Lobster Roll

We heard you loud and clear, The Bicycle Coalition of Maine (BCM) is returning to the midcoast this year! Join us October 18th, 2025 for a scenic coastal ride with community vibes in Rockland this fall with a fun celebration at the end! This multi-route road ride is a soft launch to gauge interest for a 2026 return of the beloved Lobster Ride. This ride offer multi-routes ride in the beautiful mid-coast with lobster treats at the end.

There will be two routes available for the Lobster roll!

13 Mile – This route will head south out of Rockland and toward Spruce Head, where it will then loop back towards Rockland. Estimated elevation gain will be 720ft.

30 Mile – Heading south out of Rockland towards South Thomaston. It will then head to Fort St. Georges, swinging by Spruce Head, and making its way north to Owls Head.

The ride will begin and end at Snow Marine Park in beautiful Rockland Maine. Rockland is just shy of 2 hours from Portland, ME and Bangor, ME.

Rules and General Information

  • Helmets MUST be worn and fastened at all times while on the bike.
  • The course includes roads open to traffic. ALL riders MUST obey all rules of the road along the course. Ride on the right at all times and single file where traffic is present. Ride predictably.
  • Though there will be an aid station(s) and limited support on the course, this area is remote so all  riders should carry with them what they need including tools, parts, additional clothing, and nutrition.
  • Please let event staff know if you leave the ride for any reason. We want to ensure everyone is safe and accounted for at the end of the day.
  • E-bikes: Class 1, 2, and 3 e-bikes are allowed all routes.

Gravel Grand Slam Rides

Introducing the greatest gravel race circuit to ever come to Northern Maine. New this year, four great rides will tour participants on four beautiful rides.

Maine’s Aroostook County offers gravel riders an unmatched challenge—fast-rolling dirt roads, rugged trails, and leg-burning climbs with zero distractions, except maybe the occasional moose or logging truck. The views? Pure adrenaline: vast lake horizons, winding rivers, and sweeping wilderness stretching beyond the handlebars. Every ride supports a great cause in the community, turning every pedal stroke into something bigger than just the miles covered. If you thrive on adventure, precision, and pushing the limits, these rides are calling your name. But to be honest for the first time racer, these are very fun rides with great people. Sugarloaf is owned by Boyne Corporation, the same owners as Sunday River. Sugarloaf’s 16 lifts service three terrain parks and pipes, and 134 trails of which 33 are beginner, 44 intermediate, and 57 expert or glade skiing.

Sugarloaf Mountain Resort in Maine, USA is one of the top year-round destinations in New England and the largest ski area east of the Rockies. Our trails and glades spread across Sugarloaf Mountain, Brackett Basin and Burnt Mountain.

Additionally, the resort offers many winter activities including skiing, snowboarding, tubing, nordic skiing, snowshoeing, concerts, slopeside lodging and terrain parks.

Summer offerings include golf, hiking, mountain biking, moose view tours plus facilities to host conferences and weddings. The mountain has hosted World Cup ski events and many US National Skiing Championships.

Carrabassett Valley Academy, a private school that has produced world class athletes like Kirsten Clark, Bode Miller, Seth Wescott, Emily Cook, and Jeremy Cota, is located on-mountain and uses Sugarloaf’s facilities.

Additional facilities include the Anti-Gravity Center with fitness center, trampolining, skateboarding, and basketball courts, the cross-country facilities with nordic and mountain biking trails, and the Robert Trent Jones 18-hole championship golf course.

Maine Huts & Trails is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to contribute to the economic, social and natural environment of Maine’s Lakes and Mountains region by creating and operating a world-class recreation corridor for current and future generations.

Our backcountry trails enhance access to beautiful lakes, rivers and forestlands, and our low impact huts provide inviting spaces that facilitate outdoor adventures and learning. This self-sustaining resource stimulates environmentally sensitive economic opportunity in the region by attracting visitors of all ages and abilities.
We currently operate four backcountry eco-lodges and more than 80 miles of trails in Western Maine. We offer “off the grid,” hut-to-hut adventures coupled with comfortable and friendly accommodations.

There are countless possibilities for outdoor enthusiasts and active travelers of all levels, ages and interests. Welcome to Camden Snow Bowl, a magnificent 4-season recreational area for all ages!

In winter months, ski, ride, take a lesson or race at Midcoast Maine’s beloved ski mountain. We are proud of our expanded beginner area and programs with conveyor lift, expanded Ski and Ride School, racing program, 15 Alpine trails and 3 glades, a terrain park, Nordic and snowshoe trails, a new triple chair lift, snowmaking, night skiing, skating, a toboggan chute, special events including the Toboggan Nationals, and absolutely spectacular views of Penobscot Bay and the surrounding hills. During non-winter months, we have a multi-use field, tennis courts, swimming, a boat launch, hiking, and fall foliage chair lift rides.
